ACADEMY DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE

The Academy Development League was set up for the sole purpose of giving the young people we work with the opportunity to take part in a competitive experience.

The league aim is to accommodate inclusive participation for beginners and young people who wish to take part in fun safe games and allow our volunteers the chance to coach, referee, and table officiate in a game situation.

The league is quite unique in the respect we have our own adapted grass root rules to ensure every player gets the same equal chance to play and opportunity.

Our league pilot which ran in 2011 was a huge success;the league took place each week between March-June at Glenlee Primary School and thrived with 201 participants taking part. It was structured to accommodate Under 12 maximum participation and ran as two separate events, namely the boy's league and the girl's league.

The 2012 Development League will run incorporating our entire structure, which will allow Under 12 & Over 12 participation for the young boys & girls of South Lanarkshire.

The 2012 Academy Development League is funded by Clubs for Young People Scotland.
